The project will lead to a breakthrough development of a novel surface functioning technology during hot strip rolling to improve corrosion resistance of the steels at a low manufacturing cost. The corrosion experiment provides a comprehensive picture of corrosion mechanism and quantify how new technology will combat effectively corrosion and provide long term integrity and life extension to the onshore and offshore assets. The success of the project will significantly improve the national / international competitiveness of Baosteel in developing new technology against corrosion and manufacturing corrosion resistant steels at a low cost.
