  • A/Professor Aijun Huang, Monash University
  • Dr Samuel Lim, Monash University
  • Dr Ilana Timokhina, Deakin University
  • Dr Rimma Lapovok, Deakin University
  • Mr Ding Chen, Baosteel Research Institute (R&D Centre for Special Metals)

This project aims to investigate the beta (b) forging sequence/process on the microstructure evolution and their effect on ultrasonic inspection as well as wrought product mechanical properties. This will be conducted via an integrated b and a+b thermomechanical processing approach. Microstructure processing maps and/or modelling tools will be developed to assist in billet production having quality, cost efficiency and consistency. The scientific findings from this work will lead to increase yield rate and reduce cost of Ti alloy billets or bars to meet requirement for aerospace industry and creating new businesses in bio-medical.
