This project aims to link variations in incoming material strength to shape defects and forming loads in the flexible roll forming (FRF) of high strength automotive components. Solutions for flexible part shape control will be developed. Based on this, algorithms will be established that enable an in-line shape compensation based on sensor signals monitored during the process. The smart technology for in-line shape control will be proven by the manufacture of real size EV prototype components that can be installed in an electric SUV test structure. With success, the project will provide a competitive business case for the industrial FRF production of EV body components.
