The aim of this project is to work with Baosteel to exploit BIPV (building integrated photovoltaics) steel byintegrating chalcopyrite CIGS (copper indium gallium selenide) thin film photovoltaic technologies. By developingunique monolithic module interconnection, innovative pre-CIGS layer engineering, and advanced CIGS solar cell layers processing, the expected truly BIPV product resulting from this project would possess unique aesthetically appealing features, while offering high power output comparable to that of CIGS on glass. The completion of this project will enable Baosteel to access a significant share of the growing BIPV market and making future Baosteel stainless steel products technically competitive.
