Truss core architecture is to be topologically designed and the core-sheet bonding investigated using computational simulation techniques to create optimized truss elements, to ascertain post deformation behavior, and to develop the bonding techniques. High levels of panel formability, high strength and stiffness to weight ratios and impact resistance afforded by porous metallic cored laminates will be achieved and the products can be applied in the transport sectors of aerospace, rail, ferry and automobile.
