Project Title: Advanced materials for new generation high energy storage

A novel core/shell structured carbon material is to be produced through carbon extraction, mixing in silicate solution, spray drying and carbonization. Melt-adsorption is adopted to immobilize sulphur to synthesize carbon-sulfur cathodes and electrochemical evaluation is to be performed further. The specific energy and stability of the carbon-sulfur cathode is to be improved and the performance of the practical LSBs with specific energy up to 300~500 Wh kg−1 and extended durability for continuous use over a period of 3 years is to be demonstrated.
