A discrete-based modeling and a continuum-based process modeling are to be developed, based on various advanced modeling techniques related to computational fluid dynamics (CFD), discrete element method (DEM), and CFD-DEM, for the purpose of simulating the coupled flow and heat transfer in different zones of Baosteel MG and understanding of the in-furnace flow phenomena and thermo-chemical behavior. Improved process control will lead to increased productivity, reduced fuel consumption and CO2 emission of COREX process in Baosteel.
